MFAW-VT alum Julia Bouwsma – poet, farmer, libraran – is featured in a Maine Women Magazine profile, “The Poet Libraian of Franklin County.”
“For me, the land and the farming, it feeds my artistic practice so much I don’t even know how to describe how much it does,” Bouwsma says. ““The connection to physical work, the connection to landscape, the sort of constant conversation between body and landscape that develops through that kind of work is really important. It feeds probably everything I will ever write.”
Bouwsma is the author of Midden (Fordham University Press, 2018) and Work by Bloodlight (Cider Press Review, 2017). She is the recipient of two Maine Literary Awards; the 2016-17 Poets Out Loud Prize, selected by Afaa Michael Weaver; and the 2015 Cider Press Review Book Award, selected by Linda Pastan.
